Life is full of lefts and rights, choose wisely. ;)
Lefties has a two different meanings: people who are left-handed and people who have left-wing political views. In Spain however, Lefties is the name of a clothing store. This clothing store is the cheaper Zara, which is a popular Spanish fashion store. There is a Lefties about 25 minutes from my apartment and it happens to be in an indoor mall. For the past week, Lefties has had incredible sales, so of course I decided to partake in those sales. The store was PACKED! It felt a little bit like Chandler Fashion Mall around Christmas time. The checkout line was almost out the door and you could tell that people kept picking over every shelf until there was nothing left. Since it was so crowded, it was really easy to people-watch and by doing that I was able to see many different cultures around me all interacting. It was a very cool experience.
Over the last few days I have meet so many people! From family to new friends, it has been so amazing! My great aunt (pictured in third row, far right photo) picked me up from the airport on Tuesday and I stayed with her, which allowed me to meet my "cousin", Amanda (not actually cousins but very close family friend, pictured in second row, far left photo on the far left). On Wednesday, my great aunt helped me move into my apartment. Only one of my roommates is here and she is a sweet older lady named Pili. Her brother, Pepe, owns the apartment and they are both so awesome! They are actually from Madrid and Pili has lived in Madrid her whole life. She showed me around Getafe (the subdivision of Madrid I'm staying in) on Thursday, which was super helpful! On Friday, the university hosted a Welcome Day for all the international students and it was so incredible to see how many countries were represented there and how willing people were to make new friends. On Saturday, I went to el Museo de Prado with two friends, Natalia and Armana (pictured in bottom right photo) and afterwards Armana (pictured in bottom right photo on the far right) and I explored a bit of Madrid for a place to eat. We went to an event for international students that night as well (all the blueish lighting photos). I have explored a lot of Madrid, but there is still so much to do. I love soaking in the culture and history all around me. I also start classes tomorrow and I think I'm going to like my schedule.
Going into this next week, please pray for rest and wisdom. There will be quite a few late nights and early mornings and I don't want that to get in the way of being a light for God each day. Also, please pray that God continues to use me in the lives of those around me. Thank you so much for your love and support!
Thank you for reading to the end! Or scrolling to the end....
If you have any ideas on how to make the website or blogs better, LET ME KNOW! I hope you have an amazing week!
Until next time!
